College of Agriculture at Basra University held a seminar on (Foliar Fertilization in Crops) at the postgraduate Hall- field crop department.

The seminar presented by the researcher Hussein Kamel Shaker aimed to identify the needs of plants from micro and macronutrients through the shoot system and not through the roots. Understanding if the rate of absorption through the leaves is less or more efficient than the root system. The seminar included an introductory review of the concept of foliar fertilizer and the most important features and types of foliar fertilization (for micro and macronutrients). The seminar suggested the use of foliar fertilization because it has a higher efficiency than ground application.

Overcoming the problems may happen in the land that leads to a decrease in the percentage of fertilizers on the ground through irrigation or volatilization, such as ammonium gas, or phosphorous deposition.
