The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar on "An Environmental Study of Zooplankton in Khor Al-Zubair."

The seminar, presented by researcher Alaa Abdul-Ali Maitham, aimed to identify the zooplankton present in the Khor Al-Zubair area, determine peak seasons, study some environmental factors, calculate diversity indices for the studied organisms, and compare these indices between stations.

The study included measuring the biomass of zooplankton using three methods: wet weight, dry weight, displacement volume, and standing crop.

The study recommended the formation of a specialized research team to conduct up-to-date confirmatory taxonomic studies of zooplankton in general, and Khor Al-Zubair in particular, due to the lack of local taxonomic references specific to the study area.
