University of Basrah organizes a workshop on the role of the green belt in reducing desertification and environmental pollution

The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled The Role of the Green Belt in Reducing Desertification and Environmental Pollution The workshop aimed to reduce the waves of dust storms that struck Iraq recently and reduce oil pollution emitted from oil wells The workshop, which was attended by a number of specialists in the field of planting green belts around cities Where the lectures included a focus on planting trees that tolerate Iraq’s climate around cities and their continuous watering and care in order to stabilize the soil and get rid of the soil, in addition to planting trees that absorb toxic gases around companies and oil fields The workshop recommended addressing the province of Basra and the oil companies in order to allocate funds for the work of green belt projects and in cooperation with each of the municipalities and the Directorate of Agriculture in consultation with specialized professors from the University of Basra to design and plant green belts
