Dr. Amjad Kadhim Rasen and Dr. Kadhim Hashim Hassan participated in a dialogue session within the project “Human Resilience and Biodiversity in the Marshes of Mesopotamia.” The session, held at the Higher Institute for Leadership Development and Training, affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, focused on national dialogue and cooperation in water resource management in Iraq and practical solutions for the sustainable revitalization of the marshes.
The session included several comments and scholarly contributions from participants, addressing the importance of protecting people and the environment in the marshlands, ways to enhance the sustainable management of water resources, and the most prominent environmental challenges facing the marshes, as well as mechanisms for their revitalization in cooperation with relevant ministries and academic and research institutions.
Participants emphasized the importance of unifying national efforts to preserve biodiversity in the marshes of southern Iraq and supporting environmental and development projects that contribute to achieving environmental sustainability and enhancing water security. This, they stressed, serves local communities and preserves the environmental and cultural heritage of the Iraqi marshes.
