The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "Cultivation of Azolla and its Use as a Sustainable Ingredient in Animal Feed."
The seminar, presented by Dr. Arshad Talib Mohsen, aimed to highlight the importance of the Azolla plant, its cultivation methods, suitable growing conditions, and the possibility of cultivating it using simple and low-cost methods, thus contributing to supporting the agricultural sector and achieving sustainability.
The seminar also reviewed the nutritional value of Azolla, noting its relatively high content of crude protein, minerals, and vitamins. Furthermore, it addressed the use of Azolla as a sustainable, non-traditional feed alternative and its role in reducing feed costs and improving the productivity of farm animals.
